METHODIST CHURCH SOCIAL.

In spite of the bad weather, about 50 persons were present at the social in the tMetihodist Church School-room, .which was held under the auspices of, ; the Ladies' Guild. The object, of the social was to welcome newcomers to the church. During tine evening Mrs. Schmidt and Miss Capes sang, and Mrs. Lowe recited twice. The Eev. H. ShaTp welcomed '• those newcomers vrho were at the-social, and hoped that they would be happy among the Hutt folk. He also thanked

the' committee for their efforts, and the Ladies' Guild, Mrs. Stonehouse and Miss Eddy, who were in charge of the programme, and Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Bur-

gess who supervised the supper arrangements.

In addition to the 'musical items, there were games and competitions.
