HUTT VALLEY HARRIERS.

The Hutt Harriers held their weekly arun last Saturday from high up on the Belmont Hill tops. Mr Mitchell, who kindly placed his residence at the disposal of the runners was with Mrs Mitchell, largely responsible for such a successful run. The trail led through ideal country and three packs were despatehediat intervals of five minutes. In the run-in/; Mack, a new member, led the party home -by half a yard from Me Carthy with Ricftardson and Payne deadheat for third place/* The lady harriers were also present and followed a good trail, arriving home some ten minutes ahead of the other packs. Afternoon tea was afterwards supplied and thanks were extended to the host and hostess by the President, Mr A. Hadley, on behalf of- the members. Mr Mitchell suitably replied;. The Club has sustained a great* loss by the departure of C. McCarthy for Palmerston North this morning. McCarthy, who joined up with the Club two seasons' back, has a record that any runner so young in years can well be proud of. He had the honour last year of being selected in the Wellington team that won the N.Z. Championships, and has also won the club championship for two years. The departure of a class runner like McCarthy leaves a gap that the Hutt. Club will have difficulty in filling. Next Saturday is Dome Cup day at Hutt Park. The race is over a five mile course. All Wellington club's wilbe competing and a great con-

test is expected. Brooklyn appear to be the strongest club, while Stevens ana Silver (Scottish) and Shejfpard (Wellington) > may contest the individual title. The Hutt Valley are holding a dance in the Hutt Park Pavilion on the eve of the race and apart from members

and supporters of the respective clubs the public are also asked to attend and make the function a huge success. -
