AN AFTERNOON AT ST. JAMES'S HALL.

An afternoon was recently /held in St. James'b Hall, the proceeds of which go- to swell 'the funds of the electric heating of that hall and also "of St. James's Church. There was a "very good attendance, and the function was a distinct success. Progressive euchre and 'bridge were played, Lady Roberts and Mesdames Pine, Foothead, Hendry and Feist being the prize-winners. Affcernoon.tea was served and a most en- ' joya'ble musical programme was contributed by the following ladies:—Mesdames Andrews, O'Shea, Schmidt, Charlesworth and the Misses Williams and Jones. The ladies who were responsible for organising this effort must, feel most gratified at the result, both socially and financially.
