The Stokes Valley Women's listituto met at the "residence of Mrs. Hawtbj -us 4-nd enjoyed a talk from Mrs. V '%ea of Wainui-o-mata Institute oi "Short Cuts m Cooking.*' Many easy &nd economical recipes were givjni, as well I as a number of useful household hints. Tl?e speaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks from all present. Several visitors attended from Taita aad expressed their appfecUfiaii of the cv »rk of the Institute. .■Vleiifcjon was made of the forthr iaiag conference of -Women's Jni'-'jutes in Wellington and a delegate w.ie :ijpojnted. Afternoon tea dispensed by Meadames Hnrney ana Hose, and Miss Hawthorn brought the pleasant gathering to a close. .
