The' Committee reported as follows:—
Sunny Avon .Estate.—-Mr. C. J&. Barrett applied on .behalf of the owners to ha-ve the new street in. the above subdivision called '■' Avon Street.'' Your committee has to fecommend that Council agrees to the request.—Granted.
Applications to Install Machinery.— An application from ,W. E. Jones and Co.,_for permission to install a combination circular saw and planer on Lots "9 f IQ, 11, and 12, Birch Street was bef6re
the Committee. The' sections are shopping sites 100 ft x 20ft each and the aheci in which the machinery will be placed is a.% the rear of the sections. Your committee, refers this appplication to Council without comment. > . <3r. Patrick moved and Cr. Mitchell seconded that the permit toe refused. —- Carried. Mjo*C. Parkinson made application for permission to install an ' ilDlliott' Woodworker in a shed at the rear of his residence wliich is to be erected in Beaumont avenue. There are several of the plants in this particular locality and) your committee has to recommend' that the application be granted, and permission given to install the machinery such installation to remain during the pleasure of the Council.-—Granted.
Building Without Permits.—Two cases have been brought before' the notice of, your committee, of builders commencing the erection of buildings without having.^obtained r the .necessary..permits, and your'committee has to report that it has ordered prosecutions in both cases.—Approved of.
' Fire Brigade Matters. —The report of the Brigade for the period ending May Bth stated that the Brigade , had been called out to two false alarms and also to grass fire. All plant is in good working order and the attendance at all musters continues to be good. ' •'. > ' •
Fireman 'N. Francis has resigned;from the Brigade having left the district, and. your committee has conveyed its appreciation of his four and a half years ser-
vice to him. *
The Brigade also acknowledges, with thanks a donation of £3/3/- from the N.Z. Sawmillers Company in appreciation of services rendered. . - -|
