A HAPPY FUNCTION

One cannot but readily acknowledge that the Association Football Club's dances are invariably-distinguished 'by a spirit of -happiness and good fellowship and particularly outstanding in this respect was the last function: on'i&y 31st, when Joy and Gladness was the keynote the entire evening. Owing to injuries received- in -a motor accident, the Association M.C., Mr. Logan, was unable to attend this dance, and in his absence the duties oil M.C, were ably discharged by Mr. Brown. It was an unusual circumstance that both Monte Carlo dances were .won by two brothers —Messrs Freeman of Petone—who each, received' tins of cigarettes. Miss H. "Williams, Wellington, was the winner of a very handsome ghlss fruit dish, in antique brass stand, while to Miss P. Bird, Lower Hutt, went *a pretty china set The spotlight, in charge of Mr. J. Potts, added greatly to t»hc enjoyment; of the evening, while tie eortfetti dance in place of the eustoiuarystreamers, was a very pleasing novelty. Xo account, cf this function would be comp^te without mention of the orenpstrii, as on .this occasion it provided nv.ist excellent : music, winning prai-e fr»ia all present, and contributing largely to .t'i.3 pleu-9 of the dance. •
