HUTT CROQUET CLUB.

The Hutt Croquet Club celebrated the closing of the croquet season in a most enjoyable manner on Wednesday, t2ie whole day being spent at the greens, and a delightful cold lunch and afternoon tea were provided by the members of the club.

During the naorning competitions were held for the members, the competitions after-lunch being for (honorary members. After afternoon tea-, the president, Mrs. Yates, presented the trophies, the following ladies being the winners:— ~ .

A Championship: Mrs Bock,, trophy presented by Mrs. A. Y. Lees1; runnerup, Mrs King, trophy donated by Mrs Leighton.

B. Championship: Mrs PassmoTe, trophy donated by Mrs. Yates; runner-up, Miss Macaskill, trophy donated by Mrs Ayson.

A Grade event, won by Mrsi Parker, trophy presented by Mrs; Teagle; run-ner-up Mrs Hendry, Sirs. Trevethick's trophy,

B. Grade Event—Mrs Eddie, winner, Mrs King's trophy; runneri-TJjp, Mrs Wood, Mrs Trevethiek's trophy.

The Handicap Pairs wos won by Mesdames Parker and Eddie, Mrs Hendry's trophy; runners-up, Mesdames Bock and Lees, club ?s trophy. ■-. ''

Tiie following were the winners of the afternoon competitions:—"Break" Mrs Passmore; runner-up, Mrs. Lees. '' Angles '' —-Mrs Parker; runner-up, Mrs Hendry. 'French" —-Mrs Leighton; runner-up, Mrs Ayson. *'Grolf"—Mrs Wood; runner-up, Mrs King.

The "trophies for the honorary members' competition were donated by the club, the following ladies being tihe successful competitors: First, Mrs Kennington, runner-up Mrs Whitc&er, trophy, Mr» Yates.

The president, secretary, treasurer, and captain of the club were all recipients of gifts as a grateful recognition of their service. The gift to the treasurer, .Mrs. Leighton, was chosen with a view to its usefulness on shipboard, as she and Mr. Leighton leave shortly on a visit to the Old Country, and Mts Yates, in making the presentation, tendered ) the club's very best wishes for.a most enjoyable trip.
