A CHOIR SOCIAL.
, Another event of a farewell nature took place on Wednesday night, when Mr and Mrs" Olds were invited to meet the members of the Methodist Choir at
a social evening.
Mr. Dawson (choirmaster), spoke very feelingly when he said how sorry the choir were to part with Mrs Olds, but -he hoped that she would participate in the musical life in Invercargill, and on his own behalf and that of the choir, he expressed to her the -hop* that the future-might bje a very happy one for her and Mr, Olds and their family. Mr. Dawson t«hen called on a senior member of the choir—Mrs Eddy - —to speak. Mrs. Eddy said that she felt that-Mr. Dawson had left her very little to say, except to endorse what he -had said in tendering the good wishes of their choir to Mr and Mrs. Olds." Mr. Dawson then asked Miv Hormon (organist), to say a few words. Mt. Horman expressed regret at the departure of the guests of the evening, and also wished them all success in the future. Mr. Dawson then asked Mrs. Olds to. accept, as a memento from the. choir, two crystal vases. Mrs Olds, in acknowledging the gift, said t«hat it had always been a pleasure to her to be a choir member,. for. she^ looked upon this work as a recreation." Mrs Olds also spoke most appreciatively of Mr.£)awson's tact as a condiuctor. Mr Olds _ then voiced -his appreciation of bofch- the gift and good wishes, and a. very friendly evening was brught to a close with supper.
