OBITUARY.
MR. WILLIAM MOWHRAT.
Mr. "William Alfred Mowbray passed away at his residence ;in Waterloo Road; Lower Hutt, on Saturday Deceased, who was in his 70th year, had been in failing health for several months. . ■ The " late Mr '. Mowbray came from an old Wellington family, and was one of the bestknown men in- New Zealand , mercantile circles. Born in Welling-" ton, he was educated at the school at Tlibrndon of which his father, the late. Mr. William 'Mowbray^. was principal. Wiile still in his teens the deceased entered into business with' Mr. Phillip Moeller, and later was with Mr W. H. Levin, and when, the firm of W. H. Levin and Co was formed he became a director. His connection' with the business dated over fifty years. He. was also a director of several; other companies, and was "keenly interested in the.-Merchants' Association, in wiose affairs he topfc an-active pait. ; The late Mr. MowbTay served for a time on the 'Lower Hutt Borough Council, but apart from'that he was not actively interested in public .affairs. An enthusiastic follower of horse racing, he was* a. member of t-ie Wellington facing Club for -many years. His personal popularity was very wide, and \o endeared himself to many.. v
- The late Mr Mowibray was single. Messrs Enfest and Herbert Mowbray, of Lower Hutt, aTe. brothers, and Mts. H. Myers Heretataiga) and Mrs Barthorp (Lower Hutt) Sisters.
