LOVE—LOVE
A very pretty and -popular: ■wedding, which created jnuch interest among both. Natives and Pakelfas alike>' was solemnised at St. -Luke's-^Church,. Greytown, at 7 o'clock on Saturday evening, January 4th, when- Miss Mona Hokepine Love, daughter of the late Mr Kuru Love and Mrs Mcii Love, of Petone, was married to Mr George Love/also'of Petone.
The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion arid the Rev. Patehana Kokiri, of Gartertori, pfficiated in the presence, of a . large; attendance of Pakehas ana Maoris. The Rev. D. J. Davies presided at the organ.
(The bride whoV was given away by her brother, *M3r Albert ■TipiJLove, looked charming, in a long petalled frock of white tulle' edged with silver, the closefitting bodice being of silver lace. Her beautiful veil was" held in place by a tight : ntting silver cap, finished •at each side -with a cluster of orange blossoms, and' she wore silver shoes. She carried a magnificent shower bonqiiet of white wax hyacinth,' pink: carnations, loses tind maidenhair fern. •
. TKe bricLesm'aid.s tojb Miss Charlotte Love, of Picton; (cousin of, the bride), and Miss Dovie Katene; of Petone. They ,were dressed >ia pretty long^ flounced frocks of pale pink tulle edged" with
three rows* of silver, ribbon on each
flounce and wore pink tulle picture hats trimmed with silver sprays to-match. They carried handsome bouquets of pink roses, pansies- and maidenhair fern.
Little Norma Love (sister of thebride) and MeUa Love (niece of the bride) attended as flower girls, each., wearing dainty petalled Early Victorian, froekg of mauve taffeta with silver trimmings and little mauve and silver lace J^uliet caps and.shoes to match. Their posies were of pastel _flowers. ' .-•
Mr Dan Love, brother of the bride, acted as best man, and Mr Ralph Love (cousin) as groomsman.
After the ceremony a reception waff held in the Meeting House at Papawai,
where' the bride's mother, who was attired in. a stylish frock of fawn crepe de chine with hat to match and who carried a pretty bouquet of pink roses, autumn foliage and maiGienhair fern, received some 475 guests, amongst them being relatives from Hritt, Petone, Picton and all parts of the Wairarapa. ~
The tables were prettily decorated with, pink sweet, peas, Christmas lilies and maidenhair fern.'
Congratulatory speeches were made by relatives and friends of the happy couple the usual toasts being honoured—that of the bride arid bridegroom being pro"posecl by Mr Hamuera Tamahau Kingi, and responded to with musical honours; I ... Afterwards asocial and dance was held, the.; bride and bridegroom leading off in the grand march. The dances were interspersed Tvith some splencidd vocal and instrumental items which .were greats: ly appreciated, and it; waa riot until the "wee small-hours" of the morning thit the enjoyable function was brought to a close with the singing of "For They ate Jolly Good, Fellows," and' "Auld Lang Syne;" . ' . ' The happy couple were the recipients of many handsome andi useful presentSi congratulatory telegrams ; and good wishes. ■ .■ • „■ '. ■ A^very pleasing feature was that the ivedfling was held on the anniversai'y of the bride's .mother's wedding which was celebrated at the same plaice *32 years ago, when Mrs E.Boyd, and : Miss A. Oates, both of Greytown were bridesmaids. - i. ■ -
