MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
The Borough Council notifies by advertisement elsewhere in this issue that the main portion of the District Electors' 801 l will close on the 31st inst. It may be opportune to remind readers that one or two important amendments were made to Municipal Law during the last session of Parliament, the most important of which was the alteration of the day of the elections. .These were formerly held on the last Wednesday in April but have been put back a week and will in future take place on the first Wednesday in May.
All residents other than ratepayers should take steps; to have their names placed on the Municipal Roll in order that they may record their votes for mayor and councillors, Forms may be had at the Council Office where they may be filled' in. ■
We would point out that there is no connection between the Parliamentary roll used at the recent elections for the House of Representatives to this Municipal Roll and the;fact that one voted at the recent elections does not- place one's name on the roll to be used next May. .
There is always confusion betiween these two rolls and it is .hoped that the above will help to remove the misunderstanding that exists in Connection there-
with; in short, if your name is not on the Municipal Roll you will not be able to exercise your vote and the onus is on the individual to see that his or her name is duly recorded. y
.A supplementary roll will be prepared later but it is desirable that early application be made for enrolment.
