NEW HUTT BRIDGE
At the Lower Hutt Borough. Council meeting last week the Engineer reported that an average of nine men have been employed during the month and steady progress has again been made. The whole of the concrete work of the bridge proper, including parapets and kerbs has now been completed and when the footpath slabs have been Ififl ami the small concrete retaining
vnll at the school corner erected, only filling and formation work will remain. Filling is now being deposited >?i the western ap£>rosch. at the rate of about 75 yards per day. During the month No. 1 span was concreted and The west abutment wings finished. The pare.pot was completed on spans 1 ,2, 3 and 4 and the kerb and footpath slab supports constructed.
Tho conveniences at the new bridge are not yet completed., The tiling has been completed and the ceiling and floor inside ha* been finished in white atlas cement and red oxide cement respectively. The plumbers are now completing the flushers, etc.
