AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
■---•At" a recent meeting of the management committee of the; .Lower Hutt Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, many matters concerning the advancement of the sport in Lower Hutt were considered. ' '
It was decided to commence the weekly races for club members-on Monday, sth November at 6.30. p.m.
The secretary and Mr. J. Stalker were appointed to draw up the programme for these meetings.
Messrs Treseder, Ballantyne, Corlisssenr., and Vagg were appointed a gear committee. Their function will be toreport to the management committee obl^.

With a view to encouraging athleticsamong boys of school age, it was decided to form a juvenile branch of theclub. Two grades will be formed: —A. Grade, over 14 and under 16 on Ist; November; B Grade, over 12 and under 14 on Ist November. One race in each grade will be held each Monday, pointswill be allotted^ and prizes awarded at the end of the season. The lads will be under the eye of the senior membersof the club and they will not be allowed to compete out of their class. "Far toomany athletes are ruined through overindulgence in strenuous contests while young; but with men of the calibre of the present management committee of the club looking after their welfare, there is no danger of such a calamity occuring. It was also decided to enroll honorarymembers at a minimum subscription of 2/6. They will receive a receipt fronx the treasurer and- also an honorarymember's card signed by the club captain and the secretary. Anyone desirous of helping the club in this direction are requested to call upon Mr. Bill. Morrison, | There are a few of last year's members whose subscriptions are still outstanding. The secretary was instructed_ to advise those concerned that if theamounts were not paid within 14 days- ' their names would be forwarded to the."Wellington Centre as defaulters.
