HUTT PARK

The Hutt Park Committee met on Thursday, Mr A. J. Hobbs being the chairman. Arrangements were finalised for the acquirement by the Government of a small piece of land between the present bitumen road and the Waiwetu Stream at the foreshore. It was stated that it would provide improvement for the road to Day's Bay. The grant was made provided the bridge was sufficiently high for the passage of ordinary sized launches. A request from the Moera Sports Club that their two years' lease of the land in the Hutt Park be extended to ten years was refused. The Lower Hutt Civic Association wrote congratulating the committee on their arrangement with the Trotting Club.l —Received. The caretaker reported that since the last meeting of the committee the main pillars in the grandstand have been attended to by tlie Trotting Club officials, concrete piles now replacing decayed wooden ones.
