The usual monthly meeting of the Hutt Dental Clinic was held on Monday 6th August. Present: Mr. J. Forsyth (chairman), Mrs. Joyce, Messrs Cairns, Watson, Hull, Marsh, Clout and Gearing (secretary). The secretary reported receipt of a donation from H. Baldwin, Esq., of five guineas together with a letter of congratulation on'the good work being done. The secretary was instructed to write thanking Mr. Baldwin for his generosity. The report of the nurse for the month of July was read. 71 patients were treated, involving 368 operations. A lengthy discussion took place on the best means to adopt to secure a more active interest, by parents. Financially the committee are receiving generous support from parents and friends, but it was stated that in the matter .of care of the teeth the children were not encouraged. Astonishing as it may seem the tooth brush was not considered to be a part of the necessary equipment for the child. -Ah instance quoted was the statement of a tiny patient "Mummy sometimes lends me her brush." Members present undertook to do all in their power to secure tlie assistance of parents and the secretary was asked to confer 'with the nurse on the matter.
