BOULCOTT SCHOOL

■ The first householders' meeting in connection with the new school in Fry \s L<ane was held in the school on Wednesday, June 20th, there being- a A-ery fair attendance in spite of the bad weather. Mr Dyei? of the Eastern Hutt School Committee, was in the chair, there being also present Mr Stonehouse of the Education Board and Mr James of the Eastern Hutt Committee, who was elected secretary of the meeting. The School-Committee election resulted as follows:—A. J. Gearing (chairman), L. Jenkins (secretary), and Messrs Pileher, Trevethiek, Marsh, Home and Grandy. It was decided to recommend to the Education Board that the name of the school be the "Bouloott" School; thus keeping in memory one of the earliest landmarks of the Hutt Valley, the school being the nearest public building to the site of Boulcott farm. The committee of the Eastern Hutt School was warmly thanked for the donation of basketball material and a grant of £30 to the new committee's funds.

. Mr. Stonehouse addressed the meeting on educational matters and the subject of school accommodation, and the •meeting., terminated -with a vote of thanks to the chairman.

The school -is very favourably situated, -well away from the Main Bioad, yet easily accessible from all quarters. The grounds are quite extensive, and provision has been made for future extension of the building. This ■will be necessary in the near future, for, as in the case of all schools opened recently in the valley, the school is already full. Ample play-sheds and a^ considerable area of concrete have been j provided, so that the children may keep j as dry as possible this time of the year; and the building is provided with, a good heating system. The stop bank has been grubbed of, gorse, enabling the--children who come from Camp Road and vicinity to arcive at school very much quicker than by way of Main Road. -
