FORMATION OF SCHOOL. LJBRABY AN APPEAL FOB ASSISTANCE Amongst the matters discussed at the last meeting of the Hutt Central School Committee was the formation of a school library. The new Headmaster, Mr Miller, stated that the trend of modern education towards the literary "side, and the fostering of the reading habit among even the youngest pupils, make the existence of a library a ne'eessity rather than a luxury. He stated that few schools in New Zealand are without this aid to an understandings of English literature. • The- Committee decided -to support the Headmaster in the scheme. Parents are to be circularised requesting them to forward to the school suitable' books that have already served their usefulness in. the homes. The practical sympathy of His Worship the Mayor and Borough Councillors is solicited and an appeal is made through these columns to all friends of youth to forward to the Headmaster of the school any suitable volumes. The Committee feels that in making this appeal its efforts will Teeeive the cordial support of all those who have the interests of children at heart.
