+ NOTES FROM THE MAIL. Corp. G. W. Kirk, of Te Horo, who has "been at the n.c.o.'s camp at Trentham for some time past, has been discharged, owing to frequent attacks of lumbago. It is understood that Mr Kirk will resume his duties as headmaster of the Te Horo school after thei summer vacation .provtided his health admits. The Rev J. Crawford, who is in charge of the Methodist Church work in the southern half of Otaki circuit, will relinquish his duties next month, his health being unable to stand the strain of ministerial work. Mr Crawford has won golden opinions from all in this district, as he did also in Shannon prior to coining to Otaki and wiU carry with liim the best wishes of hosts of friends. Last week there was a large and, representative gathering of ladies present at the Parish Hall for the purpose of saying good-bye to Mrs T. Bevan and Miss Be van who are about to take up their residence in Levin temporarily. The building had been artistically decorated with pink rambler roses for the occasion. During the afternoon musical items we're given bp Misses Clark, of Levin, Rita Nees, Cotter (2) and Eily Hurley. and 'Mrs Hurst Davies, while a dainty afternoon tea was served. Two wmlpetitionls. icaused mulch interest. They were won by Mrs Burnell and Miss Bevan, Mrs Bevan, in a very neqt speech, thanked the ladies for their kindness, and said she and her family would only be leaving Manakau for a brief time. They hoped, at no distant date, to again take up residence among their many friends.
