Mauriceville Lime Coy,
STATUTORY MEETING. The statutory meeting of the Farmera' Mauriceville Lime Company was heldi at Masterton on Wednesday. 11th October. The following were elected dire tors of the company: Wm. Perry managing director (Masterton); Wm. Howard Booth (Carterton), Roderick Gray (Masterton), Quenton Donald (iFeathenston), Hfetetor Booth (Feikling), Ewan Campbell (Wanganui), and G. h. Marshall (Marion).
The chairman (Mr William Perry; stated that from enquiries made it is possible that all the necessary machinery could be purchased without spending as much money as was anticipated would be necessary owing to war prices. The company was fortunate in. securing Mr Laird to undertake the plans and supervision of the erection of the works.
At last meeting an analysis of the stone by Mr Lawrence. F.C.S.. was submitted, showing it to contain 94.55 carbonate of lime. Since then a sample hiad been submitted to Mr Aston, 1T.1.C., the Governent analyst, through Mr Jack, the Dominion secretary of the Farmers' Union and the report is as follows
"In reply to your letter I have to eay that the sample forwarded is a limstone of good quality containing 93.2 per cent of calcium carbonate. I should like to know the locality whench this was obtained."
Shareholders no doubt would thus be pleased to learn from indisputable sources that the lime d/eposit owned by the company is such a valuabU? outowing to the high percentage of carbonate of lime.
It is hoped' to have all the machinery on the ground by Christmas and the new works in going order by February or March.
At the directors' meeting held directly after the statutory meeting the shares applied for were allotted. The capital of the company was fully subscribed.
The Wairarapa members of the directorate were appointed a. works and finance committee and requested to expedite tflie purchase audi erection of machinery.

On page 2 to-day Ken Ait'ken, bookseller and stationer, has a special announcement drawing attention to the need' of making the Christmas of the soldiers in the trenches "somewhere in France" as cheery as possible by the sending of special Christmas gifts and kindly greeting cards of which Mr Aitken has a splendid selection at very low prices.
An entry of twenty choice 3-year-old heifers close to profit (sold on behalf of Mr N. Kirkcaldie) will be auctioned at Meesrs Abraham and Williams's Levin stock safe next Tuesday.
