Horowhenua County Council
♦ The ordinary monthly meeting of tho Horowhenua County Council is being held in the JJorough Council Chambers to-day, Councillor G. Watson presiding. The following is a precis of the correspondence being dealt with : — Air \Y. H. Field wrote re Horowhenua Lake Domain JTTIf, suggesting that the Council confer with the Mayor of Levin and the president of the Boating Club, and come to some agreement as to what they wished inserted in the bill. The points to be dealt, in the proposed bill is a board with finance provided by the borough, giving that board iu conjunction with the JJorough Council the usual powers of drainage, subject to the provision that there was to be the preservation of a real lake, which must not be diminished except by an insignificant area, und provision lor the due control ol the lit kio stream, The Tauniarunui llorough Council wrote asking Council, to assist in its the Government to relax iiie provisions ol the Act prohibiting !o*ierics. Intimation was received from the secretary of the Government Insurance Department that the application of tho Council for a loan of (.'1250 could not be entertained. Mr G. 11. Newson, sexton at Munakau wrote tendering his resignation. . The Jiailway Department wrote to the effect that the conversion of the private crossing over the line at fvoputaroa, to a public one nas been approved by the Department.
