Levin Stock Sales
♦ LEVIN .STUCK SALE. "1 he high prices realized lor fat stock was the most marked feature ol the sale yesterday by Messrs Abraham and Williams. The class of iat stock that came forward 'was among the best that lias yet appeared in Levin, this applying particularly to sheep. A line ot ia'. hoggets from the Wcraroa Statu i'i.rm was sold for <"Jts 'Jd. while fat cues went for 32s '2d, and lat wethers to 3Ds, this last price being obtained to • a lot of GO. With the exception ol one pen the total entry of sheep— a good one— was sold. There was a good number ot cattle brought in—a iaii - amount being young stock, for which the demand was on the slow side but the enquiry lor fat was very Keen, lat heifers selling up to £1-1 lis and ''at cows to £11 Us. Three-year-old steers sold at £U 'Js, and lorward bullocks to CI 1. Pigs sold at good prices and the market showed an improved tone.
The X.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, j/imifed, report having held their usual weekly stock bale at Levin on Wednesday, om inst. Wo oll'ercd a small yarding of sheep and cattle, sales being made as under:— Fat hoggets 2Js, good fos Bd. inferior 13.5; .small vealer '22.5; mixed yearlings 30s: heifers in cull' JL'3 j light porkers lies; Aveaner pigs lis.
