He is the soil of" Mr Moynihan, of the CluJj Hotel. Mr* Butler's son also was wounded. The committee of the Shannon Debating Society met on Tuesday"evening at the manse, the Rev. J. A. MoKenzie presiding. It was decided to open the session on June Blli wi£li a social as in former years. The committee arranged details and drew up a syll&bm for the presentation to the members at the opening social which ie to be of -a tripartite and novel form,' The thirea parts being sustahied by married members .bachelors and spinisters respectively. The contractor for asphalting the schobl grounds is makiL,* good progress with his work and should finish in about a iveok's time. The news u! Mr J. R. McDonald's death ivat- received with -regret by hie many friends in Shannon. DRU^6M~ The quarterly meeting of the Shannon Druids' Lodge was held in' the'lodge room on Thursday evening, A.D. Bro. Wiggins jn the chair. It wae deoidetl that the Belgium Relief ±< und commit- » tee be granted the use of ' the tables and chairs lor a euchre party. Bro.»' Murray moved a vote of condolence with the widow of the late D.P. Bro. Hugh Hall, and also with the laW brother's lodge. The motion wais' passed in silence, all brothers standing.. It was decided that the lodge pay the contributions of enlisting members from the time of their leaving New Zealand. ißio. C. H. Gardiner wrote resigning his position of secretary and tile resignation was accepted with deep regret, members expressing their appreciation of Bro. Gardiner's work. Nominations of officers were made for election next -lodge night. Some discussion occurred as to the nominations for D.P. Ultimately it was decided to endorse the action of the Levin lodge in the matter. After further discussion the lodge was closed, in due form.
