A large gathering of those connected with the various sports Levin assembled at Williams s tea rooms last eveuing to hid farewell to .Mr S. Brewster. 1 he proceedings opened with a combined attack on the good things provided, and after the customary toast of the King had heen honoured, the chairman (.Mr Robertson. M.l\) proposed the toast o( the gueM, of the evening, lie saitl he was voicing the feelings of al! who had taken any interest in sport in expressing their deep regret at Mr Brewster's deparliire. He took the best wishes of all. and everyone wished him well where lie was going. On behalf of tin- gathering lie wished him a sale voyage, and trusted that his wide r experience would (it him to j'lay his part in the game of life as he had played in the sports. He had much pleasure in presenting Mr Brewster with a handsome diessing case provided by the Swimming Club. Boating Club am I II oc key Club, as smne slight, appreciation of the work lie had done in connection with these

bodies. Mr Brewster 1 hanked the gathering most sincerely for their good wishes and the present. He was sorry that he was severing his connection with the various sporting clubs, and he wished them every success in the future. The following toasts were also drunk: "The Hockey Club,'" proposed by Mr Denton and respondto by M r East her; "The Swimming Club," proposed by Mr Mackenzie and responded to by Mi Denton: "The Boating' Club, proposed by Mr Bobertson, M.P., and responded to by .Mr Fosella ; '"The Press," proposed by Mi Dean, and responded to bv The Chronicle representative; "The Host, and Hostess," proposed by Mr Howe, and responded to by Mr Chidley. During- the evening solos, trios, quartettes, and a. recitation were given, the performers beingMessrs Smith, Howe, Pring-le, Musso, Denton. Dean and Mackenzie. Mr Alf Mason made a most efficient aec'ompanist.
