LEVIN DOMAIN; AND THE RACECOURSE.
(To the Editor).
<• r. -In the report of tho Levin Domain Board meeting in your Sal ur ay's issue, 1 nolo that it proposes io le so !33 acres of the domain lor a perk d of ten years, from Septemboi ne.\l. Although tho board has never I' -en consulted or notiiied that ste»s hav<! been taken and are now go'ng on lo exchango or sell this domain, with a view of acquiring the race ourse at Weraroa, the members of ill;- board personally are all aware of t!'e above proposal, either as members -if our two local councils or from ou'.si !c, and your .journal reports: I hope tlie board will, on second then ;hts, refrain from the ten years' lease, and lot it from year to year for a short time until the ratepayers <• it come to some arrangement with the Park Company, because it must be clear to everyone that the domain, with a ten years' lease, will lose a lot of its value. I think that there can bo no two opinions as to which block of land is of most use to t'-e citizens of Levin and the Win kino riding, and that in their interest (especially of Levin) every effort should be used to make a do main of the racecourse. If the present domain is so valuahle as a public reserve, why was it not used when the meii-o'-wars men visited ' Levin ? Yours, etc.. .). K Ell HELL. Olnu. May '2fit-h. 1913. P.S.--T hope this letter may load to <:i discussion in the columns of your journal, and that writers will not lie ashamed to put their names t.) their letters.
