EVENTS IN SHANNON (Chronicled by Our Resident Representative). BOWLING. A team from Levin, comprising .Messrs (Jrover, Mclntyre, Janiieson and Wilson (skip) visited Shannon and played a Shannon team for Hie 'lonour of possessing the Kinniburgh •'eatliers. Shannon was represented by Messrs F. B. Stephenson, Mit•hell. Roach and Knowles (skip). The result was a victory by the visi'ors by 21 to 20. Mr "Wilson was conspicuous in a good game. VARIOUS. The iiiva competition this year by lie Shannon Ritlu Club for tho a.I.er cup, presented by the late Mr i. Vile, M.H.R., will bo fired next latunlav, at 1 p.m., at the oOUydi ■aaige. Another success in artesian well ■oring may bo seen in the well just iored on Mr R. Tippler's property. Air Lambert, who is tho inventor )f u potato blight specific which has been advertised in these columns, is well satisfied with tho result of his invention. Ho has many testimonials to its efficacy, including one 'rojn the Tasmanian Government. Another from the North Capo came accomponied by an order for a further supply. One firm has ordered a ton of the specific to bo delivered ■t May. The United Labour Party is arranging with Mr Tregear to give a:i address on current topics in tho Shannon Druids' Hall shortly. Mr Moynihan is still maintaining the honour of Shannon with his pony ••Duchess." At the Masterton Show be took three firsts and the championship in the pony classes.
