OPIUM SMOKING.
A £50 FINE. f?EP PRUPfI ASSOCT \TTON "» DT'NEDTN. August 18. At the Police Court to-day, Ah lalv was fined Col), in default six months' imprisonment, for having opium in his possession. It was stated by the police, that owing to the difficulty in getting opium, the Chinese were now reporting to evaporathv laudanum to conditions suitable for smoking.
