THE TWA DOGS.
A FONTON TROUBLE. A vigilant dog collector is regarded appreciatively by all municipal bodies, but it often happens that dog owners view the case from a different'point. An instance of the latter kind is recorded by the Manawatu Herald, which seems to show that Carlo from the country is regarded in'Eoxton as being no different from Towser of the town. The Herald states: — Mr Tnohy, a country resident, asks us to publish a protest agaist the methods adopted by the borough dog tax collector to collect the dog tax. He states that on Saturday last his little boy was sent to town to get the mail, and was accompanied by a sheep dog. On gogoing home the borough dog tax collector met him in the Avenue and attempted to take the dog from liim, which so upset the boy that his screams could be heard tor a great distance. Had not Mr Cook happened along at the time matters would have been serious. Mr Tnohy says that as he is not a borough resident the dog tax collector has exceeded his duty and he intends to appeal to the Borough Council for redress.
