MINING MATTERS, -RECENT CRIi'SH- ; INGS, &c. We take the following from the Weekly Express, December 12 Th,e Point Russell claim, Moana tairi Creek, has turned out some excellent specimens. Thirteen tons of stone have been crushed from the West Coast claim, with a’ yield of two ounces to the ton.
Tlie amount of gold obtained from last week’s crushing at. the. Victoria Battery, for Dixon’s No 1, Madman’s Gully, was 412! ounces.
A crushing at Carter’s battery for the City of Glasgow, Moanatairi creek, was at the rate of two and a'half ounces to the ton. .
The Caledonia Claim, Moanatairi, have completed a crushing, giving six puhces t(v r the tom!
- The 'Young. American has turned out three cwt. of splendid stone . from a solid blue quartz leader three feet thick.' v ~'-\ ; ■ i . '
The Sink to Rise Claim, Moanatairi/ have; had h crushing of eighteen tons of. stone at- Carter’s with a yield offour and a half ounces to the ton. ; . The Dauntless Claim, Moanatairi, has turned 'out some "splendid stone, two cwt. of which has yielded 142 ounces. ’ -
