BOXING.

H.B. ASSOCIATION

CONTEST TO BE STAGED IN NAPIER.

The H.B. Boxing Association met in Hastings last night to discuss a proposal to match Tommy Griffiths and Frank Taylor. in addition to Johnny Leckie and Duke Maddox on January 2. On this date, however, the Municipal Theatre is engaged for the screening ol pictures and cannot be let, according to a contract between the Borough Council and Mr. Kernball, consequently the Association has had to look elsewhere for a place to stage the contests. The Drill Hall was considered too small, and a suggestion to hold it in the open air was ruled out, on account of the risk of rain.

Finally, it was decided, rather than lose the contest, to stage it in Napier, and arrangements to this end were made this morning.
