The King has approved the appointment of Sir Erie Phipps. A case is proceeding in the Supreme Court at Wellington in which E. W. Mil’s and Company are claiming £32,755 compensation under the Public Works Act for land taken by proclamation for a Public Works store near Pipitea Wharf. £23.000 of the claim represents the value of a warehouse £2605 the goodwill in the lease for the balance of the existing term, £2OOO for the value of the site and £5OOO for loss du e to deprivation of the premises.
