SUMMARY Oh FINANCIAL POSITION.
The unemployment relief works undertaken by tlie 1 listings Borough Council were completed uuring me past month. At last evening's meeting of the Council the Borough Engineer (Air. Evans) presented the following summary of the position, the figures indicating .he work done, the cost, and how the funds were provided:— Concrete paths. £lO7B 9/11 (public subscriptions £539,5/r, Government suusiuc *,11); ieser.es (first schedule) £206 4/1 (£lO3 2/1, £iU3 2,-); U.S.A, work, (Cornwall Park), £242 11/3 (£BO, £l2l 12/3, Council s general luud £4l o/-); reserves (lust schedule), £615 6/11 (£lOB 2,11, £260 17/10, £306 6/2). Reporting further, the engineer ex, plained that tile public subscriptions amount to £750 10/- plus U.S.A, con tribution of £BO. Particulars had been forwarded to the Public Works Department and application had been macle for the Government subsidy as shown above. The 3-incli artesian well was sunk for the high level lake at Cornwall Park to ' a depth of 155 feet and a satisfactory flow amounting, to 8000 gallons per hour obtained.
Tne Chairman (Cr. S. J. McKee) considered that the position was most satisfactory.
