LICENSING COMMITTEE
MEETING OF HAWKES BAY BODY TRANSFERS OF LICENSES The quarterly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Licensing Committee was held in Hastings this afternoon when Mr. A. M. Mowlem. S.M.. presided. Others present were Messis G. R. Dixon. A. A. George, A. Rosenberg and M. Johnson. Applications for the permanent transfer of the license of the Puketitiri Hotel from Stephen Kauter to J. R. Fitzpatrick, and also for the permanent transfer of the license of the Hot Springs Hotel, Tarawera, from F. C. Yule to A. W. Horne, were granted.
At the meeting of the No. 8 licensing authority in Napier on Monday, when matters pertaining to the omnibus licenses were dealt with the Hastings Borough Council was represented by Crs. S. J. McKee and G. C. Lowe nnd the Town Clerk, Mr. P. R Purser. For the month of November the Heretunga Dairy Company made 163) tons of butter, this being 22) tons more than for the same month of last year, and also represents a record monthly make for the factory.

The secretary reported that the question of interference to reception from the borough sumps had been referred to the Borough Council, and that the council had agreed to place condensers on the sump motors to eliminate the interference as much as possible,. A subcommittee consisting of the Revs. F. A. Bennett and R. B. Waugh, Messrs A. S Tonkin, E G. Helps, J. Stickland. A. E. O’Meara and E. H. Culver, with power to act, was set up to go ahead with the raising of funds for the purchase of a receiving set for the Hastings Hospital. On the motion of the Rev. F. A. Bennett, seconded by Mr. E. H. Culver, it was decided that subscriptions to the society lie 2/6 for senior members and 1/. for juniors 18 years and under. NEW MEMBERS ELECTED. The following new members were elected Messrs A. L. Beaumgart, B M. Kessel], A. Poppelwell, J. Thorburn and J. R. McGrath A proposal is to be considered to hold the next meeting of the society on the Havelock Hills, when demonstrations will be given and supper from the “boiled billy” will lie provided. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr G. Tone gave a demonstration on his “bandbox” receiver.
