AFTER 115 YEARS
DEBT NOW PAID. ANGLO-AMERICAN ECHO. (Received 5, 8.35 a.m.) Ottawa, December 4. Thirteen days before the opening of the war with Britain in 1812, the United States seized the schooner Lord Nelson in Lake Ontario. She was auctioned for 3000 dollars, and after the close of the war the fornier Canadian owners sued the American Government. During 115 years litigaion has leisurely proceeded, and to-day the Washington Government sent a cheque for 23,640 dollars, consisting mostly of interest, to the Canadian Government which lias now the problem of how to divide this amount among the 125 descendants of the former owners. —(Sydney “Sun” cable.)
