At that meeting it was decided to secure the mall contract for Tikokbtc and Onga Onga and to run the mail from here instead of Waipawa, and the meeting decided to subscribe a guarantee. Then the lists went round and the business men signed up from £1 to £5, in fact one large firm went into double figures. Then they are said to have informed a motor man of what was being done, and that he put in his tender to the postal officials, and having this guarantee to work on, he could easily beat other tenderers.
