SWIMMING.
H.B, CENTRE MEETS. GENERAL BUSINESS The annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay Swimming Centre was held last night, when Mr. A. A, George presided o'er a good attendance. The chairman, in referring to the annual report recently published in the “Tribune,” said that the interest taken in swimming by the schools was a matter of congratulation and there was every prospect of the good work being continued this season. Mr. A, W. H. King, dealing with the financial aspect, said that the past season had been most satisfactory and it was hoped that the coming season would be even better. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows;—Patron, Mr. J Vigor Brown; president, Mr W. M. Nelson; vice-presidents. Messrs John Mason, M. W. G. Stead. B. Chambers, F. Ormond. T. A Heath, A. D. M.P.; vice-chair-man, Mr. A. A, George; delegate to N. Swimming Council, Mr. J. Jackson; local officers, Mr. H. Seed (Napier), Mr. A. D. Ross (Hastings), Mr. B. J. Eastwood (Gisborne); educational officers. Messrs H. Le Bas (Napier) and A, A. George (Hastings) ; timekeepers’ steward, Mr. A. W. H. King; starters. Mess r s H. M. Bauchope, S. P, Spiller. C. McLean and A. Mclvor; handicapper. Mr. E. D. Berry; auditor. Mr F. W Melhuish; lion, treasurer, Mr. L. Freedman; hon. treasurer, Mr. H. Le Bas. It was decided on the suggestion of Mr, C. Lonergan that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee that a sub-committee be set up to consider means ot improving the finance of the centre. PROPOSED CARNIVAL. Mr. H. Lo Bas stated that It had been suggested at Hastings that a carnival be run to r-ise money for the representative fund. Mr. H. Poppelweii suited that the Heretaunga Club had proposed holding a carnival for this purpose, the whole of the proceeds to be donated to this fund. A vote of thanks was passed to the Heretaunga Club for its offer. Votes of thanks were passed to the executive officers, honorariums being granted to the secretary, treasurer and assistant secretary for their services.
