FRUIT COLLAPSE
INVESTIGATIONS BY EXPERTS. SMALLER STURMER FAVOURABLE. One ot the problems faced by the fruitgrowers ot Hawke's Bay in connection with the Stunner apple is what is termed “collapse.” After much discussion it was decided to carry out a senes ot experiments and to this end the Hawke’s Bay-Fruit-growers’ Association afTanged with Mr. R. Waters Biologist, of Wellington. to ascertain, »t unssiblc. nnv means ot counteracting this Troublesome factor. Last evening. Mr, N. A Adamson, orchard instructor, repoited that he had been associated with Mr. Waters in the experiments and both felt sure that some definite progress had been made, ft had been found that the smaller, about iljin. apple, was not so liable to suffer from the “collapse” after the experiments had been carried out. However, it was necessary that -Mr. Waters continue his investigations as he had made arrangements for the use of a cool store at Auckland. ft was decided to wr*te to the Minister of Agriculture asking him to allow Mr. Waters to A infinite his experiments in connection with the coo] storage of the Stunner. The meeting also recorded its appreciation of the investigations of Mr Waters.
