TWO FULL VICTORIES OLD BOY TEAMS AGAIN WIN. TBUNDLE’RS HAVE DAY OUT. The second series of the Hawke's Bay Cricket Association's senior competition were brought to a conclusion on Saturday when cricketers were favoured with ideal conditions. The outfields were a little slow and the wickets entirely in favour of the bowlers, who returned good averages. The two Old Boy teams, Technical and High School, each recorded a full three-pomt victory over United and Heretaunga respectively. H. 5.0.8. missed having an innings victory by the narrowest of margins, while thanks to Shephard, Technical Old Boys gained their win with seven wickets to spare. The trudlers were the outstanding players of the day, Gifford (H.S.O.B) heading the list with the remarkable average of six wickets for 22 runs. E. Elliott (Technical O.B.) also was in good form, gaining six wickets at a cost of 53 runs in the second innings against United. Spackman (United) finished up with an average of 5 for 46 against Tech, in the first innings, the performance being carried over the week. Details of the two games are as follow:— H. 5.0.8. v. HERETAUNGA. Heretaunga with its first innings of 120 as compared with the 217 of H. 5.0.8. had lost no wickets for 22 on the first day and continued the second appearance at the crease. After the dismissal of the opening batsmen the scoring was slow, five wickets falling for as many runs. Then Vogtherr and Fisher made a stand to bring the score to 65 before being separated. After this the wickets again fell cheaply am. the innings closed for 97, bringing the grand total to that of the Old Boys. Two leg bye s by the third hall gave H. 5.0.8. three championship points.
