DIVORCE

INBBASING IN ENGLAND.

CAUSED BY SUPPRESSING REPORTS.

London, Oct. 24. The suppression of reports of divorce cases in the newspapers is regarded as the cause of the alarming increase in British divorce statistics. More than 500 petitions were beard during the Michaelmas terms beginning on October 12, while, by the time the year closes', 2500 cases will have been decided in London.

The total for the whole country will reach 3500, while in the five years from 1901 to 1905, there were only 563, and, between 19*21 and 1925, only 2700. The necessity for only proving adultery on the part of the man, with out cruelty, is another cause for the great increase in the number of eases.
