NAPIER TO AUCKLAND
♦ ROAD IN EXCELLENT ORDER. ELEVEN HOURS WITHOUT SCORCHING. “I found the road in excellent order and it is quite possible to drive from Auckland in 11 hours without scorching,” said Mr. J. H. Edmundson at yesterday’s meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Automobile Association, who has just recently mo- • tored from the northern city. No one need have any fears about undertaking the journey and the road should be considered as the NapierAuckland one, not merely a Napier- , Taupo one. It is the main highway J to the north and should be considered J as such. i From Napier to Taupo many oi J the bad corners have been eased off, J said Mr. Edmundson, while the i road has been graded and rolled. On I the Litchfield section reconstruction | and tarring work has been done. Near I Mercer the bad r ection bv the raili way station has b fen improved while • in other places da igerous spots have t been removed bj deviations. The I last stretch into Auckland is a [ beautiful concrete road. Al] those [ terrors which have been so marked i in approaching Auckland have en--1 tirely disappeared, making the last stage of the journey a red pleasure
