LATE TURF
WINTON MEETING. Invercargill, Nov. 16. The annual meeting of the Winton Jockey Club was held to-day in beautiful weather. A largo crowd was present and the track was in good order. The totalizator handled £14,075. as against £14,568 last year Late results:— Winton Cup.—l Celerity 11. 1. 4 Taboo 2, 5 Schottische 3. Also started: 2 Vaward, 8 Bilbo 6 Piton. Won by two and a-balf lengths, a neck between second and third Vaward was fourth. Time, 2.9. Winton Steeplechase.—l Thistlecrown 1,2 Hokioi 2, 7 Cashman 3. Also started: 3 Osterman, 4 Captain Sarto (fell), 5 Greenstone. 6 Black Stag. Won by ten lengths, twentyfive lengths between second and third. Greenstone was fourth. Time. 5.38. Flying Handicap.— Baldowa 1, 5 Frivol 2, 3 Bright Mark 3. Also started: 1 Erne Oar, 6 Valdamo, 4 Cassolette and Bugle Note (coupled). Won by a length, three lengths between second and third. Cassolette was fourth. Time. 1.14 1-5. Barkley Handicap.—9 Jack o’ Lantern 1. 1 Spean Bridge 2, 5 Takaka 3 Also started: 3 King Balboa. 2 Spearmaid, 5 Strathnaver 7 Divinial, 4 Sparkling Eyes. 8 Redleaf. Won bv a head, two lengths between second and third. Sparkling Eyes was fourth. Time, 1.16. Otapiri Handicap Trot.—B Caesar 1. 1 Tarndale 2, 9 Princess Thorpe 3. Also started: 5 Eiffel Tower. 3 Red Abbey, 13 Marvin Dillon, 2 Shady Spot, 14 Morning Sun. 12 McGrath, 6 Cloverly, 4 Lady Zita. 10 Sunstorm. 7 Baker Boy, 11 Winnie Chrysler. Won by six lengths, two lengths be tween second and third. Time 3.40 2-5.
Tradesmen's Handicap.—2 Queen Balboa 1. 1 John Bradbury 2 3 Doleful Ditty 3. Also started! 4 Bloom. Won by three lengths, two lengths between second and third Time. 1.43 1-5, SECOND DAY AT WINTON.
