ARTESIAN WELLS.
SOME IRREGULARITIES. The gradual depletion of artesian water wells is a matter concerning which there seems no very definite information by way of explanation available (states the “Wanganui Herald”.) When new bores have been put down old bores have, on occasion, stopped flowing. The sinking of the Imlay well caused some consternation on the part of other owners of' wells, one over at Putiki ceasing to flow. As there is no other supply to that area except from tanks, the stoppage was a serious one. The well later recommenced to flow and has given no trouble since. One Gonville resident, whose gardeut is a feature of his property, at one time had a streamlet (supplied by a bore) running through the property, with bridges, fish, etc. This bore ceased flowing, and brought about many changes in the landscape.
