IL A surprise visit by <jueen Mary and Prince George to the ancient town of Kings Lynn, Norfolk, in the neighbourhood of Sandringham, has had unexpected results. The visit of the Queen and Prince occupied about two hours and was wholly unknown to the mayor and corporation of the town, however, Major Coxon, a well-known , social figure there and a former mayor of Kings Lyn, took the role of conducting officer on his own initiative a .id showed Her Majesty and the Prince through the principal public buildings. When the present mayor, Col. Woodwork, heard of the visit, he considered that his own duties and privileges had been gravely usurped by Major Coxon, and his view was shared by the rest, of the corporation. The council, therefore, passed a resolution that Major Coxon’s attendance at the Town Hall should be dispensed with whenever possible. Major Coxon’s wife, who is a member of the present council, voted against the resolution.
