Friday, Sept. 29. A public meeting was held here last night, and was attended by about 150 people. Dr. Turnbull moved, and the Provincial Secretary seconded the following resolution, which was cairied : " That the colonisation of the country cannot be successfully conducted either by Colonial or Provincial Governments as at present constituted, and that it is expedient that the Colonial and Provincial Governments throughout the Colony be abolished, and a representative body with defined amendment powers be constituted in each island, such representative body to have the sole power of controlling and conducting affairs within the island it represents, in respect to the department of lands, woiks, immigration, and appropriating or applying revenue or land other than consolidated revenue, as defined by the Public Reve nue Act; and that a Federal Government be established with limited legislative powers, to have control over federal concerns." Messrs. Montgomery and Stevens condemned the Brogden pontraet, which a public meeting is to be called to consider.
