MAY. 9 —Lord Ashley, s.s., 296 tons, Andrews, for Wellington and the South, with 21 bales flax, Sruart and Co j 4 pkgs luggage, Houston ; 22 bales wool, 4 casks tallow, 3 empty casks, Routledge, Kennedy & Co. (agents.) The Circular Saw Co.'s s.s. Lord Ashley, Captain H. J. C. Andrews, left Auckland at 830 p.m. on Saturday last, 6th inst., and passed through the Hole in the Wall at 3.15 a.m. on Sunday ; anchored in Tauranga harbor at 10.30 a.m. ; discharged cargo, and left at 4.30 p.m.; passed White Island at 10.20 the same night, and rounded the East Cape at 6.15 a m. on Monday; was oif Portland Island at 7 o'cloek night; from thence came on under easy steam, and anchored in the roadstead at an early hour this morning. Experienced licrht variable winds and fine weather throughout the passage. Reports having, in the Bay of Plenty, at 2 o'clock yesterday morning, sighted the s.s. Star of the South, bound to Napier, with the steam launch Thermopylae in tow; also sighted the p.s. Luna off the East Capo at 6.15 a.m. yesterday.— The Ashley steamed southwards at 2 p.m. to day. The s.s. S.tar of the South, Captain Holmes, (having Mr Warne's steam launch Thermopylae in tow) brought up at the western anchorage at 2.30 this afternoon. She left Auckland on Saturday last, and had fine weather on the passage.
The p.s. Nevada left Wellington at 5.35 p.m. yesterday, and arrived at Lyttelton at 8 46 thi« morning.
