Friday, April 21. Mr Brown, a settler, has ar) ived overland. He reports that Te Hira, with the rest of his followers, is still obstinate. They are at Ofyinemuri, and have forbidden any messengers, European or native, to cross their territory. Mr Brown was compelled to return from Ohinemuri, and was forced to cross the mountains, arriving aj; Katikad yesterday. Letters have been received from Hauhaus, who threaten to obstruct the extension of the telegraph from hence to Katikati. The Tauranga natives express their indignation. All the land thiough which the proposed line passes, a total distance of twenty-live miles, belongs to the Government.
