FROM GREFILLE'S TELEGRAM COMPANY Reutcfs Agents. The Earthquake at Ofcago and the Bluff. Otago.- The Goldfield Laws. Departure of Dr. Featherston The Clutha Railway. BLUFF. Wednesday, April 19. A smart shock of earthquake was felt to-day, at 4 a.m. DUNEDIN. Thursday, April 20. A smart shock of earthquake was felt at 3.56 am. yesterday. It lasted two seconds, and wa3 very severe at Queenstown. Dr Featherston missed the Alhamhra on Saturday, and sailed in the Lord Ashley yesterday. He goes home in the Nevada. The Provincial Government have received intimation that an Act to amend and consolidate the gold-field laws will be introduced during the ensuing session. The Mining Conference meets in May. Professor Hearn, of Melbourne, has expressed an opinion that the Governor has the power of pardoning offences after conviction, but nothing mote. The landowners at Clutha offer fifteen miles of land to the Government free of charge, provided that the Government at once go on with the line of railway from both ends. The Harbor Company have not yet received any offer for their steamers.
