AUCKLAND. Saturday, March 30. The gale on Sunday (the 25th ult.) was very destructive to shipping in Auckland, along the coast. A.number of small craft are total wrecks, At the Thames, one man was tilled by the fall of a Iree, and others were injured Wharves and houses were washed away. Trees were uprooted in the country districts, and the toofs were blown off many houses. The mining news from the Thames is highly encouraging. The Caledonian, yesterday, unearthed a quai tz specimen containing 80ibs of gold. Another dividend of £l3 is payable next week. Shares have been selling freely for £IOO. Thames, £l6 ■ All Nations £6 10s; Junction, <£2; other property is rising. Captain Gnilding (Naval Volunteers), a Government officer, died yesterday. At the funeral to-day, there was an attendance of over 3,000 people. The ship City of Auckland sailed for London today, with 12,000 ozs. of gold, 35 passengers, and a cargo valued at £7O 000. The Hero sailed for Sydney to-day, with the Earl of Pembroke. Rev. Mr lbberison, and 30 others. The Caducens arrived from London on the 23rd March.
