Saturday, April 1. Tirs. ss. Phoebe sailed for the North, to-day. The Hon. W. Gisborne was one of -lie pa.-rft ngers. The Times authoritatively states that it is the intention of Mr Webb to run his boats direct to Sydney during the first yewr of the duration of the contract, and that branch boats of the same class a* the Nevada will be in readiness at Auckland on the arrival of the mail, to bring it on to D'medin, and to return with the outward mail to. San Francisco. The Eeid Minishy (Provincial Execu live) has resigned.
