Poverty Bay.—By the Sturt, which arrived on Tuesday last from Poverty Bay, we learn that nothing has been heard of Ropata and his party for the last ten or fourteen days; but that he is supposed to be in the Uriwera country, at the head of Waikarmioana, and that he has effected a junction with Kemp and Topia.
Inspection of Volunteers.— The Napier Volunteer Horse Artillery, Napier Rifle Volunteers, and Hawke's Bay Yeomanry Cavalry, were reviewed on Tuesday last at 4 p.m. by Lieut. Col. Harrington, Inspector of Volunteers, who had arrived about 3 p.m. that day in the s.s. Wellington. The inspection took place in Clive Square, and the townspeople having turned out in great force to witness the review and hear the band, that portion of the town presented an unusually gay appearance. The different bodies of men went through a variety of evolutions in a creditable manner, and were complimented at the close by the Lieut. Colonel, with the observation, however, that there was room for improvement. The volunteers were, dismissed about 6. n.pv
