Arrival of the s.s. Kangatira. The s.s. Rangatira, Captain Renner, left Auckland at 6 p.m. on the 4>tli inst.; had light variable winds and smooth water to Poverty Bay; thence to Portland Island fresh S.S.E. breeze with thick rainy weather ; anchored in the roadstead at 3.30 p.m. on the 6th (yesterday.) Passed a steamer boujid north at 8 p.m. on tiie sth off Waiapu, supposed to be the Wellington. The Rangatha took her departure for Wellington and Southern Ports at 7 o'clock lust night. Miscellaneous. Two steamers may be expected to arrive here on Sunday next, 10th inst.,—the Wellington and the Star of the South, both from Auckland. The former will'steam for Wellington and Southern the day after arrival. The ship Robert Henderson, from London, arrived at Port Chalmers at 10 o'clock yesterday morning, after a passage of 84 days, having left London on the 3rd of July, (the same day as the. R. T. Turubull, for this port.) A collision oecurred in Auckland harbor on the night of Saturday, 2nd October, between the p.s. Duke of Edinburgh and p.s. Enterprise. Considerable damage was done to both vessels. The papers refrain from publishing the particulars of the collision till after the official enquiry.
